The Moon That Embraces the Sun bercerita tentang cinta rahasia antara Lee Hwon, seorang raja fiksi Joseon, dan Wol, seorang dukun wanita. Wol lahir sebagai Heo Yeon Woo, putri dari keluarga bangsawan yang memenangkan cinta dari pangeran kemudian mahkota, Hwon. musuh-musuhnya, cemburu posisi keluarganya di pengadilan, bersekongkol melawan dia dan bergulat pergi tempat yang selayaknya sebagai mahkota putri dan hampir mengambil hidupnya.
